Started training to be a nurse in Grand Island Hospital, when family moved to Connecticut, she trained for a while at Waterbury Hospital and later at Bushwick Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, first husband (Currey) was in the navy and a pal of her brother Bob, he became ill and was sent to Colorado Springs, CO where she helped nurse him until he died, buried her first husband in Kentucky, continued to work in Kentucky where she met and married in Louisville, KY, her second husband (McGinnis) who was a relative of a patient in the place where she was nursing, second husband was 16 years older than her, a very happy marriage ended when he died of "Dropsy" or Congestive Heart Failure, completed training at Connecticut State Hospital and became a register nurse, passing her state boards when nearly 40 years old, married and later divorced her third husband (Griffen), in Nebraska, being the eldest daughter, at an early age did much of the housework and baby care, she was generous to a fault, she never arrived anywhere without her arms loaded with gifts, her house was open to all the neighbor children to take freely of cookies and candy, during her second marriage in Kentucky, she was 'Saved' by evangelist Billy Sunday, her religion was always first, she carried a bible in the car with her, she wore out many, in Wolcott she ran the Joy Club, a religious group for children in the neighborhood, a new piano for the church in Wolcott was purchased in her memory with her gift at her death, records found later show that for years (unknown to other members of the family) she paid the mortgage regularly on the family home in Prospect.
