Whereas, Thomas Rudolph of the Township of Upper Darby, in the County of Delaware and State of Pennsylvania, son of John Rudolph and Judith his wife, of the same place, the former deceased and Hannah Powel, Daughter of George Powel and Hannah his wife of Haverford Township, in the County and State aforesaid, both deceased, having declared their Marriage with each other before a Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends held at Wilmington, according to the good order used among them, and having consent of the surviving Parent, their said proposal of Marriage was allowed of by the said Meeting. Now these are to certify who it may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intention this seventh day of the third month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen, they the said Thomas Rudolph and Hannah Powel, appeared in a public Meeting of said People held at Wilmington aforesaid and the said Thomas Rudolph taking the said Hannah Powel by the hand, did, on this solemn occasion, openly declare that he took her, the said Hannah Powel, to be his wife, promising with divine assistance, to be unto her, a faithful and affectionate husband until death should separate them and then in the same assembly, the said, Hannah Powel, did in like manner declare, that she took him, the said Thomas Rudolph, to be her husband, with divine assistance, to be unto him, a faithful and affectionate wife, until death should separate them or words of like import. And more over, they the said Thomas Rudolph and Hannah Powel (she according to the custom of Marriage assuming the name of her husband) did, as a further confirmation of, did then and there to those presents, set their hands.
